When the App is first downloaded and you load it up, the App will request for you to allow it to detect your location. This is critical to allow so that the App can work properly for you.
On the Explore Screen on the App at the bottom of the screen you will see Dog Friendly Locations if you have Authorised the App to auto-detect your Location. If you cannot see it, it sounds like this is not switched on.
