Prior Permission in Writing from Pet Owners

Prior Permission in Writing from Pet Owners

As a Pet Service Professional, you have a legal duty of care to look after the animals you have been entrusted to care for.
This means you must always get prior permission in writing for the following:
  1. Medication increases, decreases, or brand changes.
  2. Treats or Food other than what the Owner supplied.
  3. Going pet supply shopping for the Owner if they have run out: always ask what brand, quantity, and maximum price they are willing to spend.
  4. Giving Parasite Control
  5. Booking in other Guest Pets
  6. Adventure Trips; Car, Beach, Bush hikes - anywhere
  7. Inviting over House Guests while staying in an Owners home
  8. Giving any haircuts or grooming.
Any number of things can happen:
  1. Pets could have an epileptic fit due to certain brands of parasite control,
  2. Pets could vomit and get diarrhea to treats or food,
  3. At the beach pets could inhale water into their lungs and drown or get stung by a blue bottle, or be bitten by a snake while hiking in the bush.
  4. House guests could cause breakage, theft, stains, or other damage. The Owner also may not want you to have guests.
  5. There could be car accidents, a fight could break out with another guest dog that isn't socialised resulting in wounds or even death.
Smile, you're on Camera
When you are hired for a job you are expected to be reliable and accountable - and provide services as if the Pet Owner is there with you.  Any changes to your prior agreed routine needs to be in writing to the Pet Owner through the PetCloud platform.
Most Pet Owners who hire House Sitters have remote surveillance cameras installed in their home - whether they remember to share this or not - so expect to be filmed in common shared areas and outside the home.
