Pet Sitting Nightmare - Mad Paws
A pet owner has spoken out after claiming a pet sitter he booked through the Mad Paws pet-sitting platform stole his personal belongings while staying in his home. The story was featured on A Current Affair, where the man alleged that items went missing during the booking period. According to the report, the sitter had been arranged through the online marketplace, which connects pet owners with independent pet carers. The owner later reported the incident to authorities after discovering the alleged theft. The case raised questions about safety, trust, and vetting processes on pet-sitting platforms, highlighting the importance of checking reviews, references, and verification details before inviting someone into your home to care for pets.

In another incident, a disturbing animal cruelty case reported by the Daily Mail involved a pug named Otis who suffered serious injuries while in the care of a pet sitter booked through the Mad Paws pet-sitting platform. Otis had been left wearing a tight harness for weeks, which gradually cut into his neck and became embedded in the skin. By the time veterinarians examined him, the harness had created a deep open wound. Veterinary staff had to sedate the dog and carefully cut the harness out of the surrounding tissue to remove it safely. The injuries required urgent veterinary treatment. Authorities investigated the case and the pet sitter responsible later pled guilty to animal cruelty charges.  Here's a link to the full article on the Daily Mail website: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5085431/Man-admits-animal-cruelty-pug-Otis-left-gash.html?
